So I started watching some of the movies everyone so kindly recommended to me and I instantly fell in love with Singin' in the Rain! I've been watching Moses Supposes over and over, and it really makes me wanna tap dance. I was wondering what other Gene Kelly movies are good. Name any, because as of now, I've only watched one :S

you are lavenderblush
#FFF0F5

Your dominant hues are red and magenta. You love doing your own thing and going on your own adventures, but there are close friends you know you just can't leave behind. You can influence others on days when you're patient, but most times you just want to go out, have fun, and do your own thing.

Your saturation level is very low - you have better things to do than jump headfirst into every little project. You make sure your actions are going to really accomplish something before you start because you hate wasting energy making everyone else think you're working.

Your outlook on life is very bright. You are sunny and optimistic about life and others find it very encouraging, but remember to tone it down if you sense irritation.

Dead actor Oscars snub for Farrah Fawcett and Bea Arthur in poor taste

They were both in good, even ground-breaking films, and it was disgusting at worst, and pathetic at best, of the Academy to ignore them during their tribute to those film stars that died last year.

Chicken & Dumplings. [07 Mar 2010|11:19pm]

[ music | The Fighting Donnellys ~ Far and Away soundtrack ]

I've got no picture for this, as we were in much too much of a hurry to dig in. Trust me, though - it was SO tasty!

A few times before, I'd made "Chicken and Dumplings," but I had used a packaged meal to do it in my CrockPot. Since we've moved, however, I can't find the Banquet® package in the freezer sections of ANY store. We were craving the comfort food, so I had to come up with my own recipe.

This was an absolute HIT on the first try! In fact, it tasted even so much better than the other that, even if I ever find it, I won't be tempted to go the easy way again.

For my records and for a few others who have asked:

[ music | And the Money Kept Rolling In ~ Evita soundtrack ]

Question: Do bill payees really still apply a second payment directly to the principal balance only if you request it? I ask because I've noticed several of our stubs/statements have a wording directly underneath the fill-in box along these lines: "any extra monies sent will be applied to both the principal & interest."

If not, then what do you know to be the quickest way to pay down debt?

Edited to add: Oh, iTunes. You are so comically ironic, you are!

Nan Martin, who played Ali MacGraw's snobbish mother in the 1969 film "Goodbye, Columbus" and the lively Mrs. Louder on "The Drew Carey Show," died Thursday of complications from emphysema at her Malibu home. She was 82.

Martin also was a prolific stage actress during a career that spanned more than a half-century. She earned a Tony nomination in 1960 for her role in Elia Kazan's "J.B." and was a featured player in many groundbreaking Shakespeare productions in New York with Joseph Papp as director.

Martin was appointed by President Kennedy as a member of the Arts Advisory Committee in the '60s, was an enthusiastic supporter of regional theater and worked regularly at the South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, Calif.

A first-year member of the Actors' Studio in New York, Martin had a stroke in 1981 but didn't stop working until four years ago.

Other film appearances included roles in 1963's "Toys in the Attic" (with Dean Martin), 1968's "For the Love of Ivy" (with Sidney Poitier), 1975's "The Other Side of the Mountain," 1983's "Doctor Detroit" and 1987's "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors," in which she played Freddy Krueger's mother.

In addition to the 1995-2004 sitcom "Drew Carey," Martin was a TV movie of the week regular during the 1970s and appeared on such shows as "The Twilight Zone," "The Fugitive," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Nip/Tuck," "The Practice," "ER," "Chicago Hope," "Suddenly Susan" and "The Golden Girls."

In "Columbus," Martin played the wife of Jack Klugman who despises her daughter's uninspired boyfriend (Richard Benjamin).

Martin is survived by her husband, California architect Harry Gesner, and two sons: musician and writer Casey Dolan (by her first marriage to film composer Robert Emmett Dolan) and actor-producer Zen Gesner.

Sophia: You're looking at a woman who lived through two world wars, fifteen vendettas, four operations and two Darrins on Bewitched.

I've been watching Golden Girls for the first time on YouTube. I love this show so much! I want to watch more TV shows that aired before I was born and I thought the members of this community might know some :) Would you please be so kind as to recommend some pre-1990 shows you love? I'll be eternally grateful. I adore I Love Lucy and Golden Girls. I love humour and realism (that is, anything other than sci-fi or fantasy). Thank you!

Reading a chapter for Introduction to Biology II today, I came upon a picture of a Sequoia and immediately thought of the expression on Rose's face and the comment she made on how Dorothy would act if she find out Sophia is missing.

Blanche: Rose, this is terrible, what you think Dorothy gonna do? You remember what she was like when you lost her keys?
Rose:....she uprooted a mighty Sequoia!

How in the world can anyone just uproot a huge tall tree, especially someone Dorothy's size? I guess it's their way of saying she was EXTREMELY pissed off.
